Amazon US publishes a speed per disbursement path rather than one cadence, so every path it publishes is listed, fastest first. The path you are on is the one that governs how much cash you have to float.
A payout speed is how long an initiated disbursement takes to arrive. It is not how often one is initiated: Amazon US publishes no payout cadence, and this page does not state one. The working capital figure above is built from these published figures and says which.
You've seen your per-unit fees. Your full profitability depends on the things one unit's price cannot show: how long stock sits, how often it comes back, what you spend on advertising, your cash cycle, and how the rest of your range is priced. Those are the 30-plus factors we track.
Selling on Amazon US costs money in three places, and they behave differently from one another. Knowing which is which is most of what makes a product's margin predictable.
A percentage of the total sales price, charged on every sale and set per category. Most categories apply one rate at any price. Some band it, and the banding comes in two shapes that are easy to confuse and expensive to get wrong. In one, the rate for the band your price lands in applies to the whole price. In the other, each band's rate applies only to the slice of the price inside that band, the way income tax brackets work. On a higher-priced item in a banded category the two readings can differ by several times over, so this calculator applies whichever shape the category publishes rather than assuming one. The full schedule below says which categories do which.
Most categories also carry a minimum referral fee, and it is not a single figure across the marketplace: most categories share one minimum, handmade categories carry a higher one, and a handful carry none. Where a minimum applies and the percentage falls below it, the minimum is what gets charged.
If Amazon US picks, packs and ships the unit, it charges a fulfilment fee per unit. The rate is selected by the unit's size tier and its shipping weight, and on some cards by more than that: by the price, or by which fulfilment programme the unit is in. Past a weight threshold the fee stops being a flat amount and becomes a base charge plus an increment for each whole weight interval above the threshold, charged per interval, so being barely over the line costs a full interval. The breakdown names the dimensions it used on the fulfilment line itself.
Size tier follows from packaged dimensions, which is why the tier picker above offers the platform's own tiers rather than a standard-or-oversize choice: the rate card is not written that way, and collapsing Amazon US's 8 published tiers into two would put the wrong rate on most of them.
Fulfilment rates are also seasonal. A separate peak-season rate card runs from the middle of October to the middle of January, and it is higher. This calculator picks the card in effect today, so the figures move when the peak card takes over. Choosing to ship the unit yourself removes the fee from the breakdown entirely, because the platform does not charge one on a unit it does not handle.
A flat per-unit charge on media categories, on top of the referral fee. It does not scale with price, which makes it a larger share of a cheap item than an expensive one.
The monthly subscription is shown separately rather than added to the unit, because it is charged per account whether or not any given unit sells. Folding it in would mean picking a number of units to divide it by, and that number would be a guess. Storage, advertising, returns processing, inbound placement and removal fees are costs a seller carries and are not in this breakdown: they depend on how long inventory sits, how it arrives and how often it comes back, none of which a single unit's price and weight can tell you.
It depends on the category, the sale price and how the unit is fulfilled. Amazon US charges a referral fee on each sale, a fulfilment fee if it ships the unit for you, and a closing fee on media categories. Enter a price and category above to see each one computed from the published rate card.
A percentage of the total sales price, charged on every sale and set per category. Some categories use one rate at every price. Others band it, either applying the band's rate to the whole price or applying each band's rate only to the portion of the price inside it. The difference matters a great deal on a higher-priced item, and the calculator applies whichever the category publishes. The full schedule is below.
Every category Amazon US publishes a referral rate for is listed in the full schedule below, with its rate or rates, its minimum referral fee and the shape of its bands. Pick the category above to see the fee computed on your own price.
On most categories, yes, and it is not the same everywhere. Most carry one minimum, handmade categories carry a higher one, and a handful carry none at all. Where a minimum applies and the percentage comes out below it, the minimum is charged instead, and the schedule below shows which categories carry which.
Amazon US charges a flat amount per unit, selected by the unit's size tier and its shipping weight. Above a weight threshold the fee stops being a flat amount and becomes a base charge plus an amount for each whole weight interval above it. Some cards split further, by price or by which fulfilment programme the unit is in, and the calculator applies whichever dimensions Amazon US publishes. Size tier follows from packaged dimensions, so if you do not set it the calculator assumes a common tier and says so beside the figure.
Amazon US publishes a tier per packaged size, and the tier selects the fulfilment rate before weight is considered at all. The tier picker above offers the platform's own tiers; it is not a standard-or-oversize choice, because the card is not written that way.
Some do, and the calculator says so beside the category as soon as you pick it. The requirement, what unlocks it, and where published what it costs and how long it takes come from Amazon US's own selling-permission documentation.
Yes. Amazon US publishes a separate peak-season fulfilment rate card that runs from the middle of October to the middle of January. This calculator selects the card in effect on today's date, so the figures change when the peak card takes over.
Amazon US publishes a speed per disbursement path rather than one cadence, and all of them are shown below. It also publishes a reserve rule that governs when funds become disbursable at all, which is the figure that matters for how much cash you have to float.
It is shown separately and is not added to the per-unit fees. The subscription is charged per account whether or not a particular unit sells, so folding it into one unit's cost would mean choosing a number of units to divide it by, and that number would be a guess.
Add your unit cost above. The calculator subtracts every fee and your cost from the sale price, and shows profit per unit, margin after fees, and the price below which the unit stops earning. Nothing is assumed about your cost: it is only ever the figure you enter.
Advertising cost of sale is ad spend as a share of the revenue it produced. What matters here is the ceiling: the share of the sale price advertising can take before the unit stops earning, which is this unit's profit divided by its price. The break-even panel states it once your cost is entered.
