Amazon FBA fee calculator

Every fee Amazon charges on one unit, computed from its published rate cards and traced to the source row it came from. Free, no login.

Your product

A category and a price are enough to start. Add your unit cost and the answer becomes profit rather than fees.

Store

Amazon DE's own rate card. Prices are read in EUR and nothing is converted between stores.

Amazon DE's own category names, as it publishes them.

In EUR. Nothing is converted.

What the unit costs you.

Learn more

It turns the answer above from fees into profit, and unlocks break-even.

How many you expect to sell a month.

Learn more

It adds a monthly column to the breakdown, and sizes the working capital figure below.

Who picks, packs and ships the unit.

Learn more

Ship it yourself and the platform charges no fulfilment fee, so the line leaves the breakdown rather than reading zero. Your own shipping and packaging then replace it. Seller Fulfilled Prime is a third published arrangement and is not offered here yet. Amazon DE charges the FBA/SFP referral rate on it, so an SFP unit in a category that splits the two is priced above what you would pay.

Dimensions & weight

Packaged weight, in g. Nothing is converted.

Learn more

That is the unit Amazon DE labels its own card in.

Amazon DE's published tiers.

Learn more

The tier follows from packaged dimensions, so the fulfilment fee stays an estimate until you set both this and a weight.

The share of your units that come back.

Learn more

It sizes the returns exposure below, against the profit each returned unit was earning. Needs a monthly volume too. Nothing is assumed about it.

The share of returned units you sell again.

Learn more

A resold unit gives you its stock value back, so it offsets part of the refund. Nothing is counted back until you answer this.

Advertising

Monthly ad spend divided by monthly units. Needs a product COGS.

This calculator is provided by A1Desk as a guide for evaluating marketplace profitability. A1Desk does not warrant the accuracy of the fee tables or calculations. Marketplace fee schedules change regularly; consult Amazon DE's own seller documentation for current rates and terms, and review the result independently before making business decisions. Fee data is sourced from published rate cards — verification dates are shown on each fee line.

Step 2: get your business health check

This is one product on one platform. Your full profitability depends on the things one unit's price cannot show: how long stock sits, how often it comes back, what you spend on advertising, your cash cycle, and how the rest of your range is priced. Those are the 30-plus factors we track, across your whole range on every platform you sell on.

This is a waitlist. The business health check is coming soon. We will not pass your address on.

When Amazon DE pays you

Amazon DE publishes a speed per disbursement path rather than one cadence, so every path it publishes is listed, fastest first. The path you are on is the one that governs how much cash you have to float.

ACCS average payment speed 2-5 business days from payment initiation

A payout speed is how long an initiated disbursement takes to arrive. It is not how often one is initiated: Amazon DE publishes no payout cadence, and this page does not state one. The working capital figure above is built from these published figures and says which.

How Amazon DE fees are structured

Selling on Amazon DE costs money in three places, and they behave differently from one another. Knowing which is which is most of what makes a product's margin predictable.

The referral fee

A percentage of the total sales price, charged on every sale and set per category. Most categories apply one rate at any price. Some band it, and the banding comes in two shapes that are easy to confuse and expensive to get wrong. In one, the rate for the band your price lands in applies to the whole price. In the other, each band's rate applies only to the slice of the price inside that band, the way income tax brackets work. On a higher-priced item in a banded category the two readings can differ by several times over, so this calculator applies whichever shape the category publishes rather than assuming one. The full schedule below says which categories do which.

Most categories also carry a minimum referral fee, and it is not a single figure across the marketplace: the minimum is set per category, some categories carry a higher one than their neighbours, and a handful carry none. Where a minimum applies and the percentage falls below it, the minimum is what gets charged. The schedule below lists the minimum each category carries.

The fulfilment fee

If Amazon DE picks, packs and ships the unit, it charges a fulfilment fee per unit. The rate is selected by the unit's size tier and its shipping weight, and on some cards by more than that: by the price, or by which fulfilment programme the unit is in. Past a weight threshold the fee stops being a flat amount and becomes a base charge plus an increment for each whole weight interval above the threshold, charged per interval, so being barely over the line costs a full interval. The breakdown names the dimensions it used on the fulfilment line itself.

Size tier follows from packaged dimensions, which is why the tier picker above offers the platform's own tiers rather than a standard-or-oversize choice: the rate card is not written that way, and collapsing Amazon DE's 20 published tiers into two would put the wrong rate on most of them.

Fulfilment rates are also seasonal. A separate peak-season rate card runs from the middle of October to the middle of January, and it is higher. This calculator picks the card in effect today, so the figures move when the peak card takes over. Choosing to ship the unit yourself removes the fee from the breakdown entirely, because the platform does not charge one on a unit it does not handle.

The closing fee

A flat per-unit charge on media categories, on top of the referral fee. It does not scale with price, which makes it a larger share of a cheap item than an expensive one.

What is not in this calculation

The monthly subscription is shown separately rather than added to the unit, because it is charged per account whether or not any given unit sells. Folding it in would mean picking a number of units to divide it by, and that number would be a guess. Storage, advertising, returns processing, inbound placement and removal fees are costs a seller carries and are not in this breakdown: they depend on how long inventory sits, how it arrives and how often it comes back, none of which a single unit's price and weight can tell you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Amazon DE charge sellers?

It depends on the category, the sale price and how the unit is fulfilled. Amazon DE charges a referral fee on each sale, a fulfilment fee if it ships the unit for you, and a closing fee on media categories. Enter a price and category above to see each one computed from the published rate card.

What is the Amazon DE referral fee?

A percentage of the total sales price, charged on every sale and set per category. Some categories use one rate at every price. Others band it, either applying the band's rate to the whole price or applying each band's rate only to the portion of the price inside it. The difference matters a great deal on a higher-priced item, and the calculator applies whichever the category publishes. The full schedule is below.

What is the referral fee for my category?

Every category Amazon DE publishes a referral rate for is listed in the full schedule below, with its rate or rates, its minimum referral fee and the shape of its bands. Pick the category above to see the fee computed on your own price.

Is there a minimum referral fee?

On most categories, yes, and it is not the same everywhere: the minimum is set per category, some categories carry a higher one than their neighbours, and a handful carry none at all. Where a minimum applies and the percentage comes out below it, the minimum is charged instead. The schedule below lists the minimum each category carries.

How do FBA fulfilment fees work?

Amazon DE charges a flat amount per unit, selected by the unit's size tier and its shipping weight. Above a weight threshold the fee stops being a flat amount and becomes a base charge plus an amount for each whole weight interval above it. Some cards split further, by price or by which fulfilment programme the unit is in, and the calculator applies whichever dimensions Amazon DE publishes. Size tier follows from packaged dimensions, so if you do not set it the calculator assumes a common tier and says so beside the figure.

How do the size tiers work?

Amazon DE publishes a tier per packaged size, and the tier selects the fulfilment rate before weight is considered at all. The tier picker above offers the platform's own tiers; it is not a standard-or-oversize choice, because the card is not written that way.

Which categories need approval before I can list?

Some do, and the calculator says so beside the category as soon as you pick it. The requirement, what unlocks it, and where published what it costs and how long it takes come from Amazon DE's own selling-permission documentation.

Do fulfilment fees change during the holidays?

Yes. Amazon DE publishes a separate peak-season fulfilment rate card that runs from the middle of October to the middle of January. This calculator selects the card in effect on today's date, so the figures change when the peak card takes over.

How quickly does Amazon DE pay sellers?

Amazon DE publishes a speed per disbursement path rather than one cadence, and all of them are shown below. It also publishes a reserve rule that governs when funds become disbursable at all, which is the figure that matters for how much cash you have to float.

Does this include the monthly subscription?

It is shown separately and is not added to the per-unit fees. The subscription is charged per account whether or not a particular unit sells, so folding it into one unit's cost would mean choosing a number of units to divide it by, and that number would be a guess.

How do I work out my profit margin?

Add your unit cost above. The calculator subtracts every fee and your cost from the sale price, and shows profit per unit, margin after fees, and the price below which the unit stops earning. Nothing is assumed about your cost: it is only ever the figure you enter.

What is ACoS and how does it affect profitability?

Advertising cost of sale is ad spend as a share of the revenue it produced. What matters here is the ceiling: the share of the sale price advertising can take before the unit stops earning, which is this unit's profit divided by its price. The break-even panel states it once your cost is entered.

Where do these fees come from?

Published rate cards and seller documentation, extracted per platform with the source URL and verification date recorded against every row. The footer shows how many sources back this platform and when they were last checked. Nothing here is modelled or predicted.

What is the fuel and logistics surcharge on Amazon DE FBA?

A percentage added on top of the fulfilment fee rather than a charge of its own, so it moves with the fulfilment figure: a unit in a more expensive size tier or weight bracket pays more surcharge for the same percentage. Amazon DE publishes it as a percentage of the FBA fulfilment fee, and the breakdown above shows it as its own line with the fulfilment figure it was applied to, so the rate card amount and the surcharge are both visible rather than added together into one number.

Which Amazon DE fulfilment rates does this calculator use?

The rates for a unit held in German or Pan-European inventory and sold on Amazon's German store. Amazon DE also publishes separate fulfilment rates for the European Fulfilment Network and for units shipped to Germany from UK or other EU inventory, and those price a cross-border service rather than this one. If your stock for German orders sits outside Germany and the Pan-European programme, the fulfilment figure above is not the card you are billed on.

Rate by price band: The rate for the band the price falls in applies to the whole price.
Rate per price portion: Each band's rate applies only to the part of the price inside that band, the way income tax bands work.
A dash in the minimum column means the category publishes no minimum referral fee, which is not the same as a minimum of zero. A category listed twice publishes two cards. The qualified row is the card scoped to what its qualifier names; the unqualified row is the card published without a scope, and the rates and the minimum on each row are that card's own.
